Discover Hungarian artist Zsófi Barabás’ “Yellow Whirl” in the Citizens’ Garden. Take some time to relax in the calm surroundings of the garden and to contemplate and draw inspiration from the piece. “Yellow Whirl” will be present in the Citizens’ Garden for the duration of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, from July - December 2024.

The artist, Zsófi Barabás, says that:  “The sculpture “Yellow Whirl” is a spatial extension of my paintings. The lines connect in an organic whirl. The forms symbolize encounters and points of contact. The ‘missing’ elements from the space form the foundation of the line drawing. The importance of completion, possibility, and the dynamic connection at the points are what the sculpture aims to convey. We see straight lines only in two places, connected to the base. These geometric elements act like scaffolding, supporting and elevating the soft forms. The colour refers to the yellow of the sun, symbolizing the power of light.”

"Yellow Whirl" complements the temporary art exhibition dedicated to the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU in the Spinelli building of the European Parliament. The artworks featured in this exhibition  come from the Art Collection of the European Parliament and the collection of the Central Bank of Hungary.
