Artivism for Democracy

How can art challenge the status quo and inspire change? The Changemakers exhibition explores how contemporary artists address key social and political issues in Europe today.

Featuring works from the European Parliament’s Contemporary Art Collection, the exhibition highlights artists who defy restrictions on freedom of thought and expression. Alongside them, young artivists present works created as part of Pop the Vote! Culture on the Ballot, a project managed by Culture Action Europe encouraging youth participation in the 2024 European elections.

Through visual art, performance, literature, and music, Changemakers sparks dialogue on democracy, migration, and human rights. From interactive installations to video performances, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the power of art in shaping society.

Every Wednesday, from April to June 2025, guided tours are offered free of charge and without reservation:

Creative voices for social change

Artivism seeks to influence both citizens and politicians on key social and political issues, using social media and urban environments to engage the public.
Through visual, performative, and literary arts, artists address topics like freedom of speech, democracy, and migrant integration in Europe. They critically reflect on reality, offering new perspectives on societal issues.
