June Lunch Tours theme – '80 years since the end the Second World War'

The Second World War was the most destructive global conflict in history and 2025 marks 80 years since it ended. To mark the anniversary, throughout the month we will be focusing on the context and causes of the war, how peace was established and the impact of the war today.

3 June – Causes & context

What was the context in which this global conflict was created? Come and discover more about the current historical discourse on the main causes of the Second World War and learn more about the events that triggered this global conflict.

10 June – The roads to liberation

The 6 June was the commemoration of the Normandy Landings that took place in 1944. Come and discover how the liberation only became a feasible enterprise after three-and-a-half years of war and how the conditions for success came together in the spring of 1945.

17 June – Victims, perpetrators, bystanders and helpers

What are the stories we tell from the people who lived through the war and how are they represented in the museum? On this tour, come and examine the global conflict from 4 different perspectives.

24 June – Aftermath

What was the aftermath of the war? Do the agreements made after this devastating conflict have still impact on our lives today?
